# Role Management

Roles are sets of permisions that can be organized according to specific work tasks. Preferably, these tasks should not overlap with each other. After all the required permissions are added to a role, this role must be assigned to a group. Because users don't have roles but are instead members of groups, they can only take advantage of the permissions assigned to a specific role by way of groups.

Within the CoB platform, roles can be accessed from your server's UserM interface. Once there, click on the Roles link located on the top right navigation bar.
